A Guide to Yahoo.com

A Guide to Yahoo.com

Yahoo has been around for years, and is regularly taking on new challenges. This article will highlight the keys to finding what you need on Yahoo. I have used almost every aspect of the internet site, so I will write from experience.

Yahoo Mail – This is perhaps the best run free web mail service around. The number of emails allowed is huge, so if you’re getting a lot of important emails that are large you might want to consider Yahoo Mail. There are some keys to getting the most from this service. Always check your bulk mail, and keep deleting the junk emails, as sometimes important emails can be sent here. I can attest that I learned that the hard way. Still, for a free service, that isn’t asking a lot. Spam emails are almost always sent to the bulk folder, and it can handle getting multiple emails at one time. The basics like sending out emails and attaching files also work well on Yahoo, and better than other mail services.

Groups – The ability to meet new people who share similar interests is the best asset of Yahoo Groups. There are thousands of groups on a variety of subjects. I tend to go towards writing groups, and there are literally hundreds of these here. Sometimes spam emails can get through and posted, but that is kept to a minimum.

Yahoo Answers – Ask Geeves is popular for asking question, but Yahoo Answers is becoming even more popular. Have a specific question on any topic? Ask away and you will likely get multiple answers. You can choose the best answer, and you get points for being involved.

Search Engine – Yahoo’s search engine is a key tool for any internet lover. It used to be run by Google, though I’m unsure if that’s still the case. If you have a website you want to get some visitors for then the website submission process should take you only a few minutes. It might be a month or two before it starts appearing though.

Web Hosts – Geocities is a top free website service that I never used, mainly because I wanted more options in building a site. Yahoo is fairly cheap in terms of building an internet site, but it isn’t the best out there. Still, there are plenty of templates if you’re not good with html. Lately the price of a new domain name has been $1.99 for the first year.

In the end, Yahoo Mail is perhaps the best asset on the site. The Groups are fun to be a part of, too. Yahoo isn’t the best site on the internet overall, but for emailers or people with questions it can be a real help.
